Its OK (by me)

It's that time again. A time to reflect on what we did a little less then perfect but, who cares!  Shake it off! It's ok! I'm going to play along with airingmylaundry today as I tell you what items/events/activities are OK by me.

Check out her latest post here.

It's OK that I actually started cutting my daughters birthday cake before I sang to her.  She stopped me before I started serving.

It's OK that we got more rain today with this Nor'Easter because all the spring flowers need water.

It's OK that I'm excited for Housewives of Potomac to start on April 1st as long as it's not an April's fools joke.  I swear sometimes a series gap is too long.

It's OK that I went to the gym today after skipping ALL last week and only accomplished less then 2 miles (all day).

That's a wrap!  What are you OK with this week?

This week I'm OK that I missed the Oscar's.  Whether the movie won an award or the actor or actress won I will see it if it interests me.

Im OK that it has rained here for days, and when the sun comes up its cold.  This is March just making a statement.  I'm happy the flowers are hanging in there!

I'm OK that after filling out several applications for a job I will be lucky if one person calls but, that just means the other jobs were not meant to be.

I'm OK that the new book I'm reading #Girlboss is better then I thought! I don't have the desire to be my own boss but her words are motivating beyond that title.  She offers encouragement to think more of yourself and do more with yourself.

I'm OK that the scale has not changed in regards to my weight because I can see the fit of my clothes is better. My muscle tone is increasing and my but has got a couple compliments too!

First full week of March! New month! Almost spring!  What are you OK with?

It's OK that I didn't watch any of the Superbowl!  I had seen a lot of commercial leaks and may look more of them up but, I didn't run into anyone where the discussion came up.

It's OK that my taxes have been filed and all those exotic dreams are gone and the reality of less fun more bills is sinking in.

Its OK that Punxsutawney Phil the groundhog predicted 6 more weeks of winter.  With all the snow we have had we are ready for another blast.  All the snow we had was just a practice run!

It's OK that I'm super excited for the winter Olympics!  I like the winter sports because the sport ability to me is more skilled.  Not that I can play volleyball at an Olympic level I certainly can't snowboard either but, find it pretty darn impressive!

Now it's your turn!  What are you OK with today or this week?

It's OK  that I just can't wait for another episode of Grey's Anatomy! Bailey better hang in there I love her on the show.

It's OK that I didn't go to the gym today because I didn't feel like it and I have a headache.

It's OK that I'm getting more excited to see the commercials for the Superbowl based on the teaser commercials.

Family Fun at the movies

We loved going to the movies in this house.  It's not just about the movies because to be honest you don't know about the movie until after the movie.  It may be about the popcorn though!

Sometimes we don't have to vote on the movie we are going to.  It's just unanimous!

Paddington was on my mind since I saw the advertisments.  Paddington of course needed a sequel!  This movie rated PG with a run time of 1 hour and 43 minutes was an entertaining movie the whole time!  My kids enjoyed watching the bear and his antics.

In this movie from the previews you know that he goes to prison, turns the laundry pink and of course indulges on Marmalade sandwiches.  With the bear locked up the show must go on.  That leaves his family whom does all the foot work to prove Paddingtons innocence.

This movie will not disappoint.  My kids are older and had no trouble following through and laughing along with the show.  This was a great sequel and sometimes we know sequels are not always good.

This was a great family day.  We saved money by going during a matinee.  Along with utilizing refillable popcorn buckets that will can refill for a fraction of the cost.

Motivation Monday

We all need a little motivation on Monday!  Regardless of that cup of coffee.

That long weekend!

Or if the kids actually slept in!

Take some time for you!

Workout!

Paint your nails!

Grab a treat!

Catch a movie!

Or just take a walk!

Just do something for yourself.  It doesn't have to cost money it just needs to give you a break to unwind.  No thinking necessary.  You have 6 more days to do something.  Make it happen and then sit back and appreciate.

It's OK that my kids have had candy everyday because of Halloween.  The received a lot and the day is coming where they will get tired of it and it will be off their minds.  Never have they ever eaten all of it.

It's OK that my daughter has caught up with that new series Stranger Things.  She put a lot of dedication into watching the first series. She had it playing while she washed the dishes, and had it on constantly in her room.  I'm so proud to see she can make a commitment if she really wants to.

It's OK that I got teary eyed when my daughter begged me to go to her Veterans Day program at school.  I'm glad I went.  We stood up for the branch we represented and there were only two others from the Air Force.

It's OK that we got a new cable box and all those DVR shows I was going to watch are gone forever.

It's OK the store didn't have any bread when I was there.  Hamburger rolls seemed to be a real hit with my youngest. He ate his lunch in 5 minutes and cant wait for lunch tomorrow!

Ahhh, OK just breath! I'm ok! Your ok! It's ok! What's one thing that you now realize is ok?

It's OK that I may actually miss out on the 2 special limited time drinks offered by Starbucks.

It's OK that the end of the year is almost here.  I'm focused on starting a new year!

It's OK that I have my DVR set for the new season of Housewives of Atlanta and Steve Austins Broken Skull Challenge coming up in November!

It's OK that I'm reading 2 books at one time because one is for fun and the other is for my book club!

Are you ok?  Because if your not you should be!

It's OK that I have waited for Grey's Anatomy to be back on tomorrow!

Its OK  I indulged in Mozzarella sticks today from Sonic because they were on sale for $.99!

It's OK that fall is finally approaching because I appreciate the beautiful trees when I catch a glimpse.

It's OK that I am planning our trunk or treat events for Saturday. Everything always happens in one day. This weekend we went to a smaller trunk or treat.

The kids really enjoy the decorated trunks.

So that's how I feel about that! Oh and Halloween is in 6 days and one child keeps changing his demands and you know what that's OK too!

It's OK (by me)

I'm going to play along with airingmylaundry today as I tell you what items/events/activities I missed but didn't lose sleep over.

You can see her current post here.

It's OK that I stopped everything for 2 hours to watch the new Grey's Anatomy last Thursday.  I swear sometimes it's so long between a series finale and a new season!

It's OK that I grabbed my free cup of coffee from 7-eleven on Friday for National Coffee day and a chicken biscuit from Chick Fil A for my breakfast.  I like an app that's rewards with free food!

It's OK that I also ate at Red Robin twice this week today because of their member privileges.

It's OK that between 2 kids and myself we finished off a 1 lb bag of Twizzlers together. I say it was a bonding moment.

Lastly its OK that my new goal for the month is 31 days of fitness.  I like the gym, outside cardio gives me a nice dose of fresh air and I'll be making myself check out some new to me gym classes.

Today was yoga but, I am already up to 10 miles of foot power in 3 days.

It's a new month so what are you starting the month out OK with?

It's OK (by me)

I'm going to play along with airingmylaundry today as I tell you what items/events/activities I missed but didn't lose sleep over.

It's OK that sometimes I accept that the weekend went by too fast then two days into the new week I want to fast forward back to it.

It's ok that Starbucks has another new drink called Maple Pecan.  I haven't tried it but, whether I do or don't I'm still good with pumpkin.

It's OK fall is here. We need a buffer between extreme heat and extreme cold.  I do like the warmer clothes and love to see the new leave colors.

It's OK that Cadillac unveiled a hands free car because once my teen starts driving I will be hands free too and it didn't cost me even half as much.

It's OK that I woke up on a Saturday for a (new to me) 8 am class at my gym pool! Partly because I like the teacher and the other half because I thought someone I knew would be there. She wasn't but I still liked it. So it's OK to workout alone! The moral of this is try it you might like it!

It's OK that the lawn was mowed and the grass clippings went all over my truck.  It will rain soon and wash it all away.  My son insists on spending money to take it to a car wash because it's filthy!

It's OK to try new food you may like it.  I always get chicken and rice at the Chinese restaurant.  Maybe shrimp fried rice but usually a chicken rice combo.  I tried shrimp pancit and really liked it!

Now it's your turn.  Tell me what your OK with?  Are you OK with the weather and temperature?

It ok (by me)

I'm going to play along with airingmylaundry today as I tell you what items/events/activities I missed but didn't lose sleep over.

You can find her current post here.

It's OK that I have an overdue book in my possession. I'm still reading it and with less then 100 pages I'll turn it in when I'm done!

It's OK that I don't always read a book to the kids at night because sometimes I read like 6 during the day!

It's OK I didn't listen to the kids when they said they didn't want to walk because we made almost 10 miles and actually enjoyed ourselves and the sights around town!

It's OK that I still have some school shopping to do because otherwise I would be efficient and people would expect more from me.

It's OK that I don't follow the whole recipe because I don't have a particular ingredient on hand.  How much can the flavor really change?  I'll do it right next time!

                 (I didn't have any basil)

That's what I'm OK with for now. What are you OK with?

Under the Weather Advisory

I knew the snow was coming.  The whole country knew so it was not a surprise.  I patiently waited and the kids impatiently waited.

The area started to slow down. People gathered their supplies or took them all.

Then we waited it out.  By the time we went to bed we saw snow falling and slowly starting to stick to the car.

Then we woke up to this.

The kids wait and wait for this so they can play, build and roll in it!  VA snow lacks in the building department so they played and rolled.

I don't know if it was declared yet but we are in a state of emergency.

We can't get our cars out.

Inches of snow have made it hard for us to get out of the house.

Thankfully the plows and dump trucks are working hard to clear the snow so that we can resume some normalcy.

Of course the kids are holding their breath to see about school in 2 days but we already know how that goes. 1 day of snow equals 2 days off.  Virginia does have plows but is environmentally friendly and relies heavily on direct natural solar power.

Did you receive snow?  How much did you get?  Did you do anything fun with or in the snow?

Christmas is Over

Christmas is over!  Or is it?  Is Christmas over after you opened the presents? Traveled to all your families? When you get home?  I say it is over here as the kids are in bed.  All wore out from getting up early, peaking at their highest excitement level and are now sleeping.

No more questions.  How did Santa....?  Can you open this please?  Can you make it work? All is calm.

I don't know if I appreciate this time the most out of the whole day or not.  It's fun to see the pure happiness but there's a lot going on through out the day.  I'm exhausted.  More so mentally then physically.

I had to open presents.  Its becoming a whole new experience.  Toys are so secured in their box that even if they roll off a truck at 60mph; all will be ok.  Even if they fall off a sleigh at 30 feet in the air; all will be ok.

Take a look at this locking device on this toy. Now here's an area that even comes with directions and should have some.  You need to twist the knob into a groove for release.  Is all this plastic cheaper then the ties?  Does it secure the toy better?

Not one box was the same.  These are the easiest tie downs in my opinion.  Ah, untwist it, pull it back threw and that's it.  Definitely the fastest securing system that I can master!

Then comes the dolls.  Have you purchased a doll lately. Lately meaning these are not the tie downs from my childhood.   These remind me of the strips that secure pet food. You pull one string and it opens right up.  Except these don't work so magically.

After all that work then preparing dinner; bedtime for me just couldn't come soon enough. I'm so exhausted; mentally exhausted.

Good night everyone!  I hope your holiday was great and everything will almost go back to normal tomorrow. I don't promise, I only hope.

Why Not Me? (Book review)

Ever you heard of Mindy Kaling?  Have you heard of a show called The Office?  It played on NBC for 8 years based on a town in Pennsylvania.  Now you know what I'm talking about, right?  Mindy was an actress/writer for that show!

This is not Mindy's first book so that makes her a seasoned author even though she writes for her show.   This book is easy to feel in her company.  She talks to you like your her friend, a good old loyal gal pal hanging out together.  This book is a comfortable read.

Mindy walks you through various aspects of her life.  Her life before she became rich and famous or lack there of and her current condition as a celebrity.  She doesn't paint everything to have been an easy journey.  She doesn't even make you envious at some points.  I think that's what makes it a good read.  It's a book you can read and get almost the staight facts.

This book would be a great gift to an aspiring actress or even a struggling one because where there's good times there are also bad.  Sometimes to see someone else struggle helps motivate or encourage us more.  The flip side is you could just sit around havin a pity party for yourself and not accomplish anything.

Mindy only gives you a small glimpse of how she got to wear she is today and she tells your in detail that she worked for it.  She was nervous and scared she knows she doesn't fit the typical actress requisite but she plows through anyways.

This was an entertaining book and I was both entertained and relieved when I read it.  She had a lot of funny scenarios in the book and I was relieved that it's possible to work hard and get somewhere.

It's all in what you make it so make it what you want.

Find out more about the book here.

I was provided this book from Blogging for Books for this review.

Mother Can You Not? (Book review)

Let's get serious for a moment.  We all know that one person that provides unsolicited advice, ideas and comments.  What we do with that information and how we act all depends on who it is giving it to us.  Co-workers, friends or family all get a variety of reactions, agreements or lack of compliance.  What if it was all coming from your ever-so-wise mother.  Do you have to listen to all of it and utilize it? Do you sift through it and grab what pertains to you? Do you ignore it and brush it under the rug.

This book is filled with hilarity to the brink.  My mother personally didn't provide me with half of the information this momma provides and you know what I may have missed out; or did I?

This book strolls through the day and life of a mother and daughter duo! They took on the world as a team.  Momma always in the stands cheering, supporting and encouraging her daughter on!

Suggestions weren't even settle or mild for the author as a young girl.  Momma saw her daughters goals and was willing to walk a narrow line to get things done.

This book is a mix of pre-adolescent, young adult and adult situations.  A variety of conversations via direct communication as well as text messages.  Each chapter brings a smile and a chuckle I guarantee.

Pick up this book as it is a quick read and worth keeping on your coffee table or other focal point in your house for a great conversation starter piece.

I was provided this book for review purposes and although it looked like I really enjoyed it (I did) all opinions are my own.
