A couple weeks ago my bookclub visited the Suffolk Seaboard Station Railroad for our recent book The Girl on the Train. While here we discussed the book, were introduced to the next book and received an informative tour of the museum.
The tour was interesting as I had never visited here before. Inside you see all types of items from the train itself, to what the conductor wore, signs and dining car items.
The group made the climb upstairs and took in the sights of downtown Suffolk.
We concluded our trip with a peek in the caboose. I actually didn't know these were the living quarters for the train staff.
Not sure about the story behind the torpedoes.
It was a nice day trip. Train fans would appreciate seeing all the memorabilia and model trains.
If you are interested in visiting the museum you can find out more information here.
That's really nice for a book club to visit some of the things or places that's in the book. I haven't read the Girl on train, I just watched it. So yeah I remember that train in the movie.
ReplyDeleteI fell in love with the girl on the train! The book was amazing and so was the movie. That's so cool you got to see the train in person. What a fun trip :)
ReplyDeleteAfter reading the book and able to experience the whole thing in reality on the train must have given you goosebumps. The quarters of the trains staff look quiet dope.
ReplyDeleteAw I like how interactive your book club is especially since it allowed you to go and conduct research at the Sussex Station Railroad. What would yo say was your favourite part of visiting the railroad museum would you say?
ReplyDeleteThat's awesome! I read the book in like a day and a half and loved it! This makes me want to start a book club and travel to the places in the books.
ReplyDeleteI dated a guy who was a huge fan of trains. I think he'd be a bit jealous of your book club excursion. Who knew the caboose was sleeping quarters for staff? I learn something new every day.
