When you get your own library card it's almost mandatory to attend a diy library card holder event.
I have no shame I sent my teen to a bead class....... and she loved it!
All things John Green was a teen event that was all her idea. She made pins, inspirational coasters and won this signed book! She couldn't deny she enjoyed her library experience that day either. Watch out teen I think I saw you smile.
We have attended a lot of the preschool and elementary programs. The library offers something different (usually hands on) every week.
Games are extra fun when your with your family and things are super sized!
Amazement when your balloon fills up by itself. Panic for mom when your not sure if it's going to blow up. Is there a phobia title for this?
The older kids get an experience one another level of learning and fun! Shel Silverstein was the focal point one day. The kids listened to a couple books then acted them out with each other for the parents.
Little miss is currently attending the monthly sewing classes. She has learned basic sewing, adding buttons, and made a bag!
Mommy even gets to jump into a few programs of my own and I don't even have to share! Crafts are offered regularly.
I'm also in their book club. Brooklyn is our next book.
We even caught the eclipse at our library! This was fun for the whole family! It wasn't even just a show and bring your lawn chairs. It was a party!
I'm just saying rumor has it a library has books too! Hmm, I didn't see any, guess I'll have to look next time I'm there.
Now I by no means am saying my library is better then yours but, I may be saying go and have fun at your library and see what they have. Make suggestions to get more community involvement! If you library does have activities and classes I would love to hear about them!
Libraries are awesome! I have two toddlers, and we attend a stay and play story time at our library every week. I'm glad your kids get to participate in so many hands-on activities at their library.
ReplyDeleteMy library has so much to offer. It really is worth checking out since the events are free (or very cheap), not to mention we pay taxes to support the library. Why not take advantage of everything they have? Our library even has things like museum passes, which saves a ton of money.
ReplyDeleteWow your library is so fun - it's awesome that they have so many fun activities for families to bond together over! The libraries here are well-stocked with many books and also have activities. But I gotta admit, haven't been there in a long time!
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like your library has it going on! Our library, although huge doesn't have very many programs for kids older than toddlers.
ReplyDeleteWe are all about our library, too. We go to a ton of fun events there and I love that they bring the community together!
ReplyDeleteI'm taking my 5 year old to get his library card next week.
ReplyDeleteSo cool! I just love going to the library. I can spend hours there.
ReplyDeleteOh wow it sounds like you have some awesome things going on at your library! I have to admit I haven't been to one for years and apparently the local one is relocating to a smaller home which is a shame.
ReplyDeleteWow your library is amazing! Our library literally has books and that's about it!! I need to look further afield I think!
ReplyDeleteLooks so much fun! I worked in a campus library in college and I loved it. I miss it!
ReplyDeleteWe love the library as well. It's a great place for my daughter to be around other babies too!
ReplyDeleteI often visit to libraries here in my city. But there isn't any craft or art thing there. Your kids look good at these crafts. It's important to have and learn a skill that will help you throughout your life.
ReplyDeleteThat little handmade bag is really cute! Libraries are amazing just for allowing us to borrow books. However they are going above that offering so many skills and fun activities for children and people of all ages.
ReplyDeleteYour library sounds amazing. I used to attend events all the time when my kids were little, but I haven't done anything since my kids got a little older. You've inspired me.

ReplyDeleteLol, it's ok! You can love crafts and time away from your kid, and you can love books too! We all do!
I wish our library did cool things for kids like this! Ours just does a summer program but the crafts are usually geared towards the 5 year olds and my daughter is 10 so she doesn't even want to attend next summer.
ReplyDeleteOur local library has so many fun things for the kids to choose from. My Son and I love to read. We make weekly trips to the library to exchange our book.
ReplyDeleteI've never been to a library card holder event, but it sounds fun! Our library offers fun activities for the kids so maybe I'll have to suggest this!
ReplyDeleteMy love affair with libraries was instilled in me as a child. Every other week my mother would take us to the library and I remember the smell of the books, and the feel of the special covers on the books in the children's section. We also had a bookmobile that would visit our neighborhood during the summer. Such great memories!
ReplyDeleteThese are awesome activities to have at a library! If we had that here, my kids would have been at the library every weekend. Thanks for sharing your experience. You guys sure looked like you had a lot of fun!
ReplyDeleteThat's impressive a library which not only have books but educational programs and activities. This will encourage more youngster to visit more the library and has a different impression more than just reading and exploring books.
ReplyDeleteI did not know you had all those kinds of activities in a library! I wish we had some kind of fun like that in our local library. Your kids looked like they enjoyed themselves!
ReplyDeleteI used to LOVE going to all the events at my local library. They have so many diverse events and it was fun for everyone, no matter what age. I'm glad you're getting involved in the community and showing the little ones as well :)
ReplyDeleteHow thoughtful it is that a library have great and fun activities and games for children. Seems like your kids had a lot of fun, and they're very creative too!
ReplyDeleteI remember being in my local library summer reading club. I loved every moment of all the fun activities during those times, I think we had a bead class, too!
ReplyDeleteI haven't even heard the term library card in ages. I think I still have mine from when I was a kid!
ReplyDeleteLibraries are such a great place for any kind of learning for kids and adults too. I dont have kids yet but I love going to the library and seeing a lot of activities that takeplace there, even for us adults too. :)
ReplyDeleteOur first grade teacher used to read Shel Silverstein books to us! I can't believe they are still around and on front display! Great memories!
ReplyDeleteWe don't have a library card for the one close to us but I would be interested in finding out if they offered fun activities for kids also.
ReplyDeleteI love that your library offers all of these programs for kids! It's so neat that they give the kids an opportunity to create their own library card instead of just having one sent in the mail!
ReplyDeleteOur local library is not as fun as this. It's fun to involve children with books.
ReplyDeleteSounds fun. I am not into the library when I was studying but my son loves going. He just loves reading and discovering new things.
ReplyDeleteMy son loves to read so I hope that he'd enjoy going to the library when he's a bit older. I haven't gone to the library in my neighbourhood yet and I am now interested to see what events are scheduled at library. Hopefully it's as good as yours.
