Tis the season to bring some nature inside. I haven't been privileged the fall colors yet so I chose to work with artificial leaves. I picked up the leaves and the raffia from the dollar store.
For this project I used:
Pinecone
Pick a pinecone that is open all the way. That way you can stagger your leaves.
I poked holes in the leaves tied a knot and hot glued the raffia to each leave to keep them secure. I cut the raffia in various lengths to give the look more depth.
After I had all the individual leaves glued to the raffia I glued it to the pinecone in different areas.
Your quantity of leaves is your personal preference.
I tied another piece of raffia around the top, glued it and that's how I have hung mine.
For $2 and some nature it's not a bad display. I could have made two and put one on each side of the curtain for decoration too.
Have you started decorating for fall? Do you make some decorations with nature?
It is fall wreathe making season. Its about time I made one. Making them is as much fun as displaying them
ReplyDeleteI made a Christmas wreath last year for the first time!
DeleteAww what a fun (and cheap) little DIY. :) This would make such a cute décor piece for Autumn - it's a shame that it's currently Spring here in Australia.
ReplyDeleteChristie's Take on Life. xx
Not a shame at all. Enjoy that heat and the flowers that will start blooming soon.
DeleteI am not a creative person at all. But this one looks so amazing. And doable :) Love those autumn leaves
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea and it looks cute! I thought of doind something with the colored leaf today while walking outside with my daughter but I am not very creative I couldnt figure out what to do! This os great because we have everything we need except the leafs but that gives us something to do this afternoon.
ReplyDeleteThis is definitely the time of year to bring nature inside. I also enjoy a verity of DIY projects.
ReplyDeleteI love easy projects like this. I think your swag came out so cute!!
ReplyDeleteIt's cool to see it all come together! From the 'ingredients' to the finished product!
ReplyDeleteYes it was nice at the end. Sometimes when you think of things they don't come together like you thought. I don't know how that even happens like that.
DeleteI love big pinecones! Did you find that one or did you have to purchase it? It would be awesome to make a wreath like that using the large pinecones and leaves as the accent piece as well! Grapevine is now available and the craft stores also have those as wreaths.
ReplyDeleteWe have big huge trees in the neighborhood. I would like to make a wreath but I know I may need to buy wire as hot glue is not going to probably hold them on.
DeleteGreat idea to do with my kids. Luckily we have backyard full of leaves )
ReplyDeleteI haven't done anything yet for my decorations at home. Glad I came over this post and now I have an idea what to create. Thanks for this!
ReplyDeleteThis is cute! I did something similar last year with my kids, and instead of a pinecone, we hung fake leaves from a ring. We're getting some colour changing going on although a lot. I'm more in Halloween mode this month anyway.
