Where did my childhood toys go

Do you remember your favorite toy?  Are you fortunate to still have it? Were you one of those kids that took care of your toys?  Maybe your mom kept all your dolls in the box.

I was born in the 70's and some of those toys I know longer have access to for numerous reasons.

1.  They are not even on eBay.
2.  They were sold at a garage sale when I was a teenager and didn't care anymore.
3.  They are too expensive on eBay.
4.  I played with them till they fell apart.
5. I let my kids play with them and they mysteriously broke.
6.  They are noted as hazardous to my health 20 years later and all made it on the recall list and removed from society.

This is what happened to my toys!  I would however be able to identify them in a line up! Just in case your mom bought it from my mom.  Heading to a neighborhood garage sale near you.

Stop by tomorrow to see my toys!

Date 9

Movie!!!! There I said it.  I know I was talking about no movie and dinner but today I will let it slide.  Atleast here.

During the week there is always a matinee price.  This price is a considerable difference from the regular price and maybe you can partake in it based on the price alone it might look more desirable.  Near me the best rate for movies is Tuesday.  All day Tuesday at two locations; movies are priced at $5 or $6.  This price is for any movie, any time all day.

So if you can not get out today.  Maybe I have at least opened your eyes to the possibility of checking out when the best rate is to go to the movies.

Saving a little money from going to a discount movie opens up more money for other things!  Out local chinese restaurant has lunch deals until 4.  So we could spend $20 for dinner and a movie.  Although that's not going to happen because I need popcorn.  (However I did purchase a refillable popcorn and drink container, so atleast it's half price)

Check your local listings for rates and times.  I have my eye on a couple movies. I am a Bradley Cooper fan that would be a good start!

Have a great date and I will see you guys tomorrow.  Feel free to let me know if you checked out a movie tonight or if you plan on catching one on the weekend.

As you see this week I actually have 5 days instead of 4.  That's because I anticipate the majority of meals to be consumed.  So sadly I will be lucky if we even have leftovers this weekend.

Thank you for following and I hope you find something this week to try and enjoy along the way!

Date 8

Yesterday you spent the day walking around the park or wherever you decided to go.  Lets take it easy today and stay home.  Of course my ideas are just suggestions.  Something for you to think about.  Something to give you some variety in your dating.  A new way of looking at things.  A new way of spending time.

Today your date is to stay home and play a game.  Just you two not the kids.  So you may need to wait till you get them in bed, put them to bed early, or get up earlier.  Sometimes you need to squeeze in time wherever you can get it.

Games is a pretty broad area.  You can pick a board, card, electronic or outside game.  Monopoly, UNO, the Wii, or a game of tennis outside.

This is not about who wins or loses its more about the act itself.    Play a game with each other.  Uninterrupted.  Again just like before this is all about the two of you;  so try to keep the children entertained or occupied elsewhere.  You could even set them up with their own game elsewhere but this is just for you too.

Comment below and let me know what game you guys decided (and who won).

Date 7

First date this week with your spouse.  Let me get this clear up front in case I don't always write it out.  This week is for your significant other.  Whomever that is.  Married or not.  This week is about sharing time, making time with the one you love the most, or the one you usually spend time with the least.  I may say spouse, I may say significant other.  Just so you know; I don't know who it is for you.  I don't know what their title is in your life but now you know whom I am referring to.

Today hopefully it is nice where you are.  Todays date is for the outdoors.  Date 7 is for an outdoor park adventure.  This week make time to hang out with your spouse.  Take a trip around your local park, lake or trail.  Your call whether it is a flower garden, 3 mile trail or even a loop around the duck pond.  Of course you can always pack a lunch then take a nice stroll around, or if time does not allow then just squeeze in some time at the park just the two of you, leaves crunching under your toes, no kids, maybe even holding hands.  No stress for this time, no talk of work or bills, just be in the moment because you will be back in reality before you know it.

Take a photo of your date and even if you don't post it save it to make a book of your 30 days of dating.  It will be nice to reflect on and remember when you dedicated a whole month to dating.

Feel free to post your story or picture in the comments below.

Date 6

The point of this month was to not break the bank but to introduce you to new ideas for dating.  It's not about dinner and a movie.  It's about spending quality time with people or a person you care about and having fun doing it.  It's about looking outside the box and exploring new ideas even doing something that you usually do but making it a little funnier.  Making it funnier by doing it together, a little bit different or  even sharing the experience with someone at all.  A couple of the ideas shared this week you could have even done by yourself.  Although no one wants to be alone sometimes alone time is nice too.  Time to read a book, take a bath or paint your nails.

Today was about sharing the work load.  Sharing the workload can pass the time quicker.  Two can complete a job a whole lot faster than one.  Two can also have fun side by side.  One of you can rake leaves while the other jumps in it.  Not just meaning adults; you as the adult as the parent can rake leaves and take turns with the kids as well.  This is no different than laying down in the snow and making a snow angel in the winter or making a sandcastle at the beach.  I notice how much fun I have sometimes when I do things now that I did do as a child.

Date 6 is sharing the chores.  At my house weekly chores are usually done on Saturday.  However if you have a different chore day or want to make it fun and spice it up another day take the day you take out the recyclables or wash the dishes after dinner.  I'm sure if you and your spouse did the dishes that would make the best date for the kids with a night off.  Maybe you guys could fold the laundry together.  While your in there play a trick on the kids and switch their clothes out.  Nothing wrong with a little entertainment.

Have fun everyone.  Tomorrow will start the week to date your spouse or significant other.  As always feel free to share your comments or pictures in the comments.

Date 5 Pop Some Corn

Let's end the night with an easy dinner.  Todays date is an easy one.  One for the whole family to enjoy as some of them were this week already.  Next week we will get to more personal dating.  Like I said we have all month to get more intimate and more one on one time with our chosen "dates".  Let's finish this week off and I promise more dates without the family are to come.

Date 5 is pizza night!  It doesn't matter if you buy it or make it but it might be funnier to make.  If you feel ambitious make some crust otherwise skip that part buy some crust and add your own toppings.  I have only made my own pizza sauce once but it wasn't that hard.  The nice thing about making your own pizza though is you are in control of the toppings.  Extra cheese, no problem, pineapple, sure!    You can make it as healthy as you want!  You know what it is exactly going on it! Win, win.

So tonight pizza is on me, not literally.  Just order take out of your choosing if pizza is not your #1 choice order something else.  Grab a Redbox movie, select something on Netflix put your feet up and grab a blanket.  It's time to snuggle up and watch a movie for date night tonight!

Feel free to let me know what you ate and what movie you choose.
