Christmas Kids Crafts

Taking it slow with kids and pain meds has finally slowed me down to do some crafts with my kids.  I have a ever growing board on pinterest.  Jump over there and see what projects  caught my eye or that I would like to make.  My Christmas pins are a collection of kid friendly crafts, decorations and DIY projects.

Of course I have more than just a Christmas board.  You can find a DIY board, beautiful nail art, science projects for kids and more crafty things for different seasons and holidays.

I will try to share the fails and wins with you.  I think it makes it easier to see real people accomplishing things rather than pretty, proper, perfect pictures.

Today we worked on 2 crafts on my Christmas board and they came out pretty well.  The kids are satisfied with them.  A great preschool project.  Discuss colors, shapes, numbers with the Santa craft.  The stained glass project I was pleased with!  I think my daughter enjoyed seeing the end result too.  We will hang this up on the wall.  She showed great patience when coloring it and took her time.

supplies: tin foil, sharpie markers, coloring page, gallon baggie

supplies: red, white and black paper, red pompom, cottonball, paper plate, crayon to color face, glue

My kids that made these are 3 and 5.  Supplies were very basic. Use what you have on hand improvise if you have to! My kids would give up TV and video games if they could make crafts.

Date 28

Well this challenge of a month of dating ends tomorrow.  So for the last two days I have decided to make it about you.  One single person dating theirself.  I'm not forcing you to the movies or even to eat alone.  That is a huge hurdle for some.  I personally have gone our by myself but it's not my first go to activity.  I have even gone to the movies by myself atleast once.  I was even going to actually go again last week but didn't quite make it.  So probably this week coming up.  Sometimes you want to do something and noone else does so why not just go by yourself?

Today is all about you!  Go away for a couple hours but, no grocery shopping, or errands, or anything related to the house!  Take a ride or maybe a walk and enjoy yourself.  Take a few deep breathes of air and reflect on who you are.  Take the day to enjoy something for you.  Go where you want to go.  Can you get away during nap time?  Can you go away before bedtime.  Squeeze in a few hours.  Take a walk, go to the mall and walk around.  No stress for two hours.  To me that is a nice date. The peace and quiet of few moments.

Enjoy your day and have fun.  I am going to write and save this date as it would be nice to make time for myself.  I never do and maybe one day a month for just me would be nice.  I'm going to pencil a date with myself every month.  Movie, dinner, eyebrows waxed, lol the sky is the limit!

Lunch by young chef

Yesterday we sat at the doctors for a suspicious foot problem.  While we were there I always try to entertain them to keep them from being "those kids" and help them pass the time.  I play educational learning games with my oldest and my youngest was busy driving his cars.  Mind you they did bring electronic games but that only lasts for the first few minutes.

Well we came across a recipe from one of the young Masterchefs in the magazine we were looking at.  I showed her the picture, told her the ingredients, relayed the recipe and we determined it was easy enough to make.  She decided that would be her future lunch.

 Today was that future lunch.

Easy ingredients and easy recipe!

Ingredients:
Peanut butter
Honey
Cinnamon
Apples
Bread

Chop up bits of apples.  Mix peanut butter and cinnamon.  Add the chopped apples. Blend all ingredients.  Smear mixture to one slice of bread.  Drizzle honey on the other slice of bread.

Lunch is served.

I apologize as I can not remember who the young chef was nor did I take note of the magazine.  However the ingredients listed above are the right ones (minus the calculations)

Happy Eating!!

1 point for Mom

We have looked at boats lately.  More for my benefit but depending on the boat it could benefit the family.  A kayak would obviously be to my benefit.  It would be a single person one. A way for me to get outside and enjoy a little peace and quiet.  It would be open and available for others as well but I am the only one asking for it.  I am struggling to prove my muscles are more than just show.  On the other hand a canoe would benefit more family members. I love water and being out on it is a nice change of pace.  We have looked at both boats, paddles, life jackets, and ways to possible bring it to the water (cargo for the truck and wheels for it to be rolled to the water)

I however am lacking in the concept of putting it on top of my truck.  I mean really how do people put their bikes in a upright position, boats even body boards that are wider than me on top of their cars?  It can't all be done by men, can it?  I have even looked at rentals.  That doesn't help.  They will put it on my truck but I still need to take it off when I get to my destination; and it needs to get back up there for the return trip. Maybe there's a you-tube channel for that.

Well I remember my husband mentioning when I have rented a boat enough to cover the cost of a new one maybe we'll get one. Ha ha, I am $4 closer.  This momma took her 2 babies out on a lake and brought them back in the same condition. No one fell in! We all stayed dry to include my shoes!

I took that canoe off the rack,

dragged it to the water

and even paddled it all for the most part by myself.  My two co-captains did have paddles but I think they kept the boat moving in a circular motion when I wasn't looking.

I wish there was an app to tell me my distance/calorie count for boat work.  We did make it across the water to a bridge and then back again.  That bridge seemed pretty far away.  It would make me feel better to know I did such and such measurements.

Bottom line, I had been told I couldn't do it and I did do it! I managed it all with 2 kids basically by myself.  I felt very accomplished!  I have taken several hikes this summer but only one by myself it feels good to step outside of my comfort level and succeed!

I challenge all mom's to find something your not used to doing. Find something you have wanted to do but haven't for whatever reason.  Hike, bike, run, swim!  A lot of items on my daughters bucket list will have me stepping out of my comfort.  It's ok to bring back up to just have support (or put that boat on the truck).
