Looking back at 2016 and I decided to share my 10 favorites of the year! In no particular order.
1. My son's birthday cake. I was pretty impressed with selecting a cake in the world of Pinterest and make it happen.
2. Deciding and cycling 50 miles on a local bike trail. I felt good going out the gate. I never had a doubt I wouldn't finish. I did finish with some sore legs but surprisingly no pain the next day!
3. I started out the year wanting to catch a movie every week. I did pretty good for the first few months but after that life got in the way. However my favorite movie of the year was Moana!
4. I got crafty this year and made more crafts and DIY projects then prior years. I was pretty proud of the fall mat I made.
5. One of my favorite songs were Unsteady by X Ambassadors and Rise Up by Andra Day. These two songs have been played in my house enough that the littlest of people even know it. It also never gets old and always gets turned up when it plays on the radio.
6. I ran out and got a cup of coffee from Luke's Diner at Stars Hollow. No, I'm just kidding I didn't see Lorelai either at my local pop up coffee shop sponsored by Netflix for the 16th anniversary of Gilmore Girls.
8. Grey's Anatomy will always be a hit until.... we won't talk about that. I'm not even prepared for the show to end so let me just enjoy that it's still here!
9. The Amazon Firestick. Oh my what a device. So many movies and not enough time. Its cheaper to enjoy movies at home even when I almost always go to the $5 matinee but I do miss that movie buttery popcorn. I love picking almost any movie I want to watch. My kids have even enjoyed several movies and shows from Amazon.
10. My favorite books of the year were several. So I tried to pick a couple from different genres.
Nonfiction: Wild The story biographical story of a journey on the Pacific Crest Trail.
Humor: Mother Can You Not centers around a mother and daughter, their relationship as a mother and child from the childhood of the daughter to adulthood.
Thank you 2016 we did have some good times and I won't forget you. No pressure 2017 let's see what you've got.
Yay, Gilmore Girls. I LOVE that show so much.
ReplyDeleteAnd that cake looks amazing.
While I was reading your list I came to conclusion that I need to start going more often to see the movies. You have a lot of movie tickets over there. :)
ReplyDeleteI remember reading about your 50 mile cycling challenge. It was so encouraging. I'll also have to look into that book Mother Can You Not. Sounds interesting.
ReplyDeleteIt is a funny book. That mother is so opposite of mine which may or may not be why the relationship is so funny and entertaining.
DeleteGood on your for getting on your bike for a 50 mile cycle - that's not easy and definitely something to be proud of. Love your fall mat, and I too love my Amazon fire stick. I love being able to rent movies from the comfort of home, plus all the awesome tv shows there are to watch. Wishing you all the best for 2017! :)
ReplyDeleteI love Grey's as well. And the cake? Bravo! :)

yay!! Gilmore Girls! I am currently re-watching it now as well.
ReplyDeleteMy wife has me hooked on Gilmore Girls right now lol
ReplyDeleteI might have to put the movie idea on my list. I have not caught a good movie or been to the theater in years, would love to though!
ReplyDeleteEvery night is movie night with my Amazon Firestick! Its a must have in every household. And that cake, oh my, so delicious and guilty looking! Thank you for sharing. xoxo
ReplyDeleteThat cake looks incredible!! Do you have the link with the recipe? I would love to re-create it!

DeleteWow, that mat you made for fall looks amazing! How did you make it?
ReplyDeleteSadly I hate sewing so the leaf is just glued on the mat but it still looks pretty good. I picked up both pieces from the Dollar store so $2 plus glue.
DeleteI love several of the things you mentioned here, especially the plan to take in a movie a week. I've been trying to read a book a week recently for my book review blog, but haven't been very good at maintaining it due to life obstacles. Once I get my scheduling down, I think it would be fun to adopt a movie a week as well!
ReplyDeleteLooks like you had a great 2016. I feel the same about Grey's Anatomy. Love the show.
ReplyDeleteYour Fall mat turned out so cute, and congrats on a pinterest success for your son's birthday cake!
ReplyDeleteI have had my fair share of Pinterest fails so I'm glad the cake looked nice and was edible!
DeleteThat cake looks yummy! My pinterest projects never come out that well haha.
ReplyDeleteEvery so often I get carried away with making a birthday cake. For some reason I ask what the kids want or offer suggestions and then I'm doing more then I really need to, lol.
DeleteI think you got me at peppermint latte. Love a good latte! Glad to hear that your 2016 has been good. Wish you many more of great times in 2017. Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteGreat top 10! I love your fall mat, you did a brilliant job! I'm hoping to make more time for crafts this year x

ReplyDeleteOh my God, that cake looks sooooo delicious! And I really like the idea of going to watch movie every week, that's really cool :)
ReplyDeleteWe got a firestick this year too. We made the switch from DirectTv and now only stream our shows. We love it!
ReplyDeleteSince you're clearly a Gilmore Girls fan, no wonder you read Wild! I can't wait to start reading it - thanks to the show, I'm totally inspired! And I wish there really was a Luke's Diner...all the time (not just pop-ups!). :)
ReplyDeleteLattes are always a WIN! + that mat you made was really great! Wishing you the best in 2017!
