Nail Time Kid Style (review)

  Nail Time is almost a given in a house with girls. Or atleast my house.  I paint mine and usually paint the kids at will.  I have tried my luck at designs and some are better then others but we will just chalk that up as a work in progress.  However lucky for me I get a reprieve for a bit while we play with some nail stickers and nail patches.  Now all the pictures are perfect!

  I received two boxes of various nail patches and stickers to make this nail day even better!

Our first box themed Sparkling had animal prints, a variety of animals and flower, leave and paw print stickers.  A little bling on all of the pieces to add some sparkle to your hands.

The second box themed Sweet Crush included all things yummy.  These patches were desserts, fruits and cute faces with big eyes.  These were also extra special with a glow in the dark feature!

The items were so little and small hands friendly so little miss was in charge of most of the application.

Applying the patches are easy but, you do need to match up the size of your finger versus the size of the patch.  The stickers are on a clear sheet so it's easy to hold the nails behind the patches.

Filing the nail down took more concentration and focus and I helped with that part.

Lastly a top clear coat to seal the deal was easier for her to assist with.

Little miss even did her whole hand and it came out nicely.  

I couldn't take a picture that showed the glow in the dark but it was neat to see them in that way as well!

  Each box came with enough patches for toes and fingers, stickers, clear top coat polish, manicure stick and nail file.

  I think this was a nice kit for a child.  Everything is small and easy for a child to hold.  The only thing I didn't have her use was the manicure stick.  This would be a great kit to buy for a birthday party goody bag.  Even popping it in to an upcoming Easter basket will result in smiles.

  The designs available are really cute. The ease of putting them on give me piece of mind when my daughter wants to sit at the table and put some on!  Including the top coat is a nice addition.  I may use some glue to keep them lasting a little longer as my daughter goes through polish quickly but otherwise I'm satisfied with this child's product.

Top 5 Girls Hairstyles Roundup

  My daughter has such pretty hair and although I give her ponytails, and braids I want to do more with it.  It's fairly thin compared to my thick hair and looks amazing even when she wakes up without brushing it.

  Someone had posted about learning something new each month and learning to do new hairstyles was one of them.  I thought that was a great idea in regards to my child. Maybe I'll even figure something out for myself but not right now.

  However for right now I am sharing some hairstyles from Pinterest to help get the creativity juices flowing.  I selected ones I thought were easy or manageable to do.

  This one must be as easy as it looks because it doesn't even have instructions!

  This one provided a great you tube video but it's basic braids made into a bun and I have made buns before and braids so I think I got this one!

The Chignon

The Chignon looks easy enough if I have a bun mastered.  I hope this is the hardest one I have to pull off.  Does it matter the length of the hair I wonder?

I like the look of this one and even though the video looks easy enough I think it will be a challenge.  It's such a fun luck though.  If I complete it and the child at least pulls it off for a couple hours before she rubs her head on a blanket or jumps it out I will be happy!

  Lastly the bow.  I have done this one before so a second time shouldn't be a problem.  It's also another cute look that I like.

  Ok let's see how this works out.  Challenge is good and change is sometimes ok.  I look forward to trying some of these hairstyles on my daughter and I know she will like them too.

Socks with Personality (review)

  I take full advantage of the warmer months to wear shorts, skirts, dresses and various fitness outfits when I workout or do cardio in my neighborhood.  So a pair of statement socks definitely fits in that wardrobe as a great accessory.

  I do have a couple pairs of unique socks but nothing like this pair.  These red and white and blue socks are fun.  I can't wait to wear them to the festivals and celebrations.  I can honestly say I don't own any patriotic clothes.  I usually just wear the colors but now I will wear my stars and stripes socks!

  These are a great pair of socks. Quality made and just plain fun to add to your outfit.  Buy a pair for everyone at the family picnic.  Spirit week at your child's school with silly socks has just got less intimidating.

Boy vs. Girls

  I have one older brother.  That is all and I'm sure growing up I thought that was plenty.  I myself have 4 children.  3 girls and 1 boy.

The boy is bringing up the rear as the youngest and is providing us with more excitement and entertainment as everything he does is completely opposite.   However what's a boy to do in a dominate girl house?  Adapt and overcome.  I think it's a win and lose battle.  I'm not sure if it would be the same way if he was older and they were all younger but this is his journey.

  It's funny the things you take for granted when you previously have taken care of girls.  You gravitate towards the pinks and yellows.  You check out all the latest dolls and accessories.  You even are memorized with clothes, shoes, purses and hats for miniature women.  But, when you have a boy things slow down almost coming to a complete stop.  Browns, blues hmm ok.  Trousers, button up shirts and ties.  The hats are cute but my little man is non compliant.  Depending on your preference the toys are not as friendly and inviting to rush off to the store and buy.  Games are universal for the most part and I don't care what color your legos are they are good to go for everyone.  What happens when you dress up though?

  Dressing up always means he's the baby because he's the youngest?   His sisters have not dressed in their dresses, dare I say yet; but, I do have plenty of other costumes for him like magician, doctor and chef.  So he may be safe.

  Today I was retouching nail polish on his sisters and he wanted his nails done.  I have told him no in the past.  Directed him to another activity and told him girls only paint their nails.  Not today!  I had spoke with my mom before and said how he liked it.  I have so many colors and would love to go to school and add the professional nail tech as a skill to my wall of accomplishments and thought it would be nice if if I could twist the nail polish as acceptable for either gender.
 
  Think about it.  It doesn't have to be the bright colors.  It could be browns, green, black and dark colors.  Camouflage nail design, super heroes, truck or ball decals?  Why not?  It doesn't need to be pink cotton candy, rainbows and glitter.  This seems like a easy area to convert into a friendly zone.

  I have started this quest today!  I thought long and hard of what I was going to do and settled on a easy design.  Before I start on the more intricate designs I will brace my husband for what I am about to do to the boy.  I think all ideas should portray something the outside world could interpret and that isn't too offensive or makes you think it is too feminine.

   I feel compelled to point out how did we cross into men and women wearing earrings?  I'm sure it wasn't immediately accepted?  Lol, it probably still isn't but is still going on.    My son does have long hair that this mom will cut one day prior to her therapy appt but he doesn't have his ears pierced.   I'm not quite ok with that yet.  But he's so cute with his hair.  It has these nice long curls in the back.  He likes to shake his head and have it fall in his face.  I do hate that he's called a girl despite what he's dressed in but I always politely correct people.

He was fine with just one nail painted.  He was happy with the image.  He got to pick out the color.  If baby boy is happy momma is happy!  Now to see what else I can come up with!
